Florida Democrats Ready to Win with Middle Class Champion Annette Taddeo

Working mom Annette Taddeo clears the Democratic primary and is ready to flip Senate District 40 from red to blue

Tonight, Annette Taddeo won the  Democratic primary in the Senate District 40 special election.

"Annette Taddeo has always been a fearless fighter for her South Florida community. She put herself through college, grew a successful small business, and raised a beautiful family--she will be a forceful advocate for the working families of South Florida in the state senate. The Florida Democratic Party is proud to be fighting alongside Annette for good public schools, an economy that works for everyone, and better transit options in senate district 40. Democrats from around the state are already rallying together to elect another Democrat to the state senate that will focus on strengthening and expanding the middle class." said FDP Chair Stephen Bittel.

Background: The senate district 40 special election is widely regarded as a strong Democratic pickup opportunity. In a district that Hillary Clinton carried by 16%, Democrats are the favorites to win this September.

Annette Taddeo is a proven fundraiser with a strong record of advocating for her community. Taddeo is a battle-tested candidate and fighter for the middle class.

This is a direct contrast to Taddeo's opponent, State Representative Jose Felix Diaz. Diaz, an unashamed Trump surrogate (and former Apprentice loser), is a longtime Tallahassee insider with flagrant conflicts of interest as a lobbyist-legislator who voted to raise property taxes by $500 million, took big checks from insurance lobbyists and stuck Floridians with higher rates, and voted to divert millions from our public schools to the unaccountable, for-profit charter schools that donate thousands to his campaigns.
