Franceschini Appointed As Florida Democratic Party Central Florida Director
Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith today announced that he has appointed community activist Betsy Franceschini as Central Florida Director, a newly created position that will coordinate the Party’s efforts in Central Florida. Additionally, Franceschini will play a key leadership role in the Democratic Party’s Hispanic outreach efforts.
“I am excited that Betsy Franceschini has agreed to join the Florida Democratic Party as our Central Florida Director. As a leader in both the Central Florida Democratic Party and the Sunshine State’s Hispanic community, Betsy’s proven record as a successful organizer will help all Democrats as we prepare for the 2012 elections,” Chairman Smith said.
Since moving to Central Florida in 1985, Franceschini has been extremely active in the community. After helping organize the Seminole County Democratic Hispanic Caucus, Betsy served as its Chair. She worked vigorously on the 2008 Obama Campaign in Central Florida, where she served as a media surrogate and community organizer.
Later she worked with Organizing for America, where she advocated for the Affordable Healthcare Law by participating in various Spanish radio talk shows to help inform the Hispanic community of its benefits. During the 2010 campaign, Betsy volunteered with the Alex Sink for Governor Campaign, organizing Democratic and Puerto Rican leaders. Recently, Franceschini was one of fifteen national Latino leaders, who were invited to the White House to meet with President Obama and discuss issues important to the Hispanic community.
Additionally, Betsy served as the President of the Puerto Rican Association of Central Florida.  She has a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling and a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from the Catholic University in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
