MITT ROMNEY INDUCTED INTO FLA DEMS RICKPUBLICAN HALL OF FAME
Romney, Scott Put Corporations, Special Interests Ahead of Middle Class

Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Democratic Party today welcomed Mitt Romney to Florida by inducting him into the Rickpublican Hall of Fame. Rickpublicans are named for their misrule that puts corporations and special interests ahead of Florida’s middle class families.

“Mitt Romney and Rick Scott are birds of a feather when it comes to putting special interests ahead of middle class families,” said Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Scott Arceneaux. “Both Rickpublicans have sworn allegiance to the Tea Party and subscribe to an agenda where corporate interests trump those of the people.”

As executives, Romney and Scott both eliminated thousands of jobs while they cashed in. They put profits, not the lives of middle-class families, first. And that's exactly the type of philosophy they bring to the table.

Romney belittled the President's plan to extend the payroll tax cut which would give the typical middle class family a $1500 tax cut next year, yet his plan would give the typical middle class family only $54 per year in tax breaks.

Furthermore, Romney laid out a budget plan that only the Tea Party could love. It wouldn't ask large corporations or the wealthiest for a dime to create jobs or restore economic security for the middle class. Instead, it provides tax breaks to large corporations, millionaires and billionaires and sends the bill to the middle class and seniors. It would privatize Medicare, eliminate living wage requirements and cut funding for preventive health care for women. Similarly, Scott signed into law a budget that resulted in teachers, firefighters and police officers getting laid off, and did real harm to Florida’s families rather than seeking to close tax loopholes.

After more than a decade of a one-party Republican rule fueled by corruption and greed Florida has fallen behind in the critical areas of education, job creation, and the quality of life. Today, Rick Scott Republicans – Rickpublicans – continue to run amuck in government putting corporate special interests ahead of Florida's families.
