HB 7069 passed the House and Senate and is just a signature away from siphoning our taxpayer dollars away from public schools to appease Republican donors. FDP spokesperson Johanna Cervone issued the following statement: 

 

“Rick Scott must veto HB7069. This bill, which was drafted in secrecy by Republicans in the legislature, creates a slush fund for for-profit charter schools that have given him huge campaign donations while lowering per-student funding for public school students. Instead of joining the rest of his party in selling out our public schools, Rick Scott should put the interests of the public school students of Florida over the interests of his donors and veto this shameful bill .”
