Governor Rick Scott Refuses to Condemn Donald Trump's "Both Sides" Statement, Then Makes One of His Own

Naples, FL - On the heels of Governor Rick Scott’s refusal to condemn Donald Trump’s defense of white supremacists and Neo-Nazi’s in Charlottesville, a new report reveals Scott echoed President Trump's reprehensible comments -- stating there was “no moral authority on both sides” when discussing Charlottesville. In response, today Florida Democratic Party Spokesman Johanna Cervone issued the following statement:

“Florida families deserve better from Rick Scott. First, Scott refused to condemn President Trump’s heinous statements defending white supremacists and Neo-Nazi’s --and yesterday Scott made an equally disturbing and revealing statement of his own. Instead of echoing Trump’s hateful rhetoric, Scott should join his fellow Republicans, like Senator Rubio, and condemn President Trump’s statements, apologize for his own comments and tell Floridians that there were not ‘two sides’ to the racist, anti-American and hate filled rallies America witnessed in Charlottesville. Anything less than this will be just another demonstration that Scott is once again putting his own self-serving interests over Florida’s families”
