Florida Democratic Party Calls On Republicans To Scrap ‘Business Plan For Rick Scott’s Solantic’ Focus On Medicaid Reform That Lowers Costs While Improving Access
Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Scott Arceneaux released the following statement on the Republicans rush to privatize Medicaid despite the Legislature’s own watchdogs, the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, writing in their latest report on this issue:

To date, little data is available to demonstrate that Medicaid Reform has improved access to and quality of care…In addition, little data is yet available on whether Medicaid Reform has produced cost savings or is more cost-effective than traditional Medicaid. We recommend that the Legislature not expand Medicaid Reform until more information is available to evaluate success.

Arceneaux said:
“It is disappointing that the Republican Legislature is pushing through changes to Medicaid that their own watchdog warned against, while the Republicans continue doing nothing to bring jobs to Florida.
“Since this plan doesn’t lower costs or improve access to care, clearly this is simply a Business Plan For Rick Scott’s Solantic. Republicans need to scrap their Business Plan For Rick Scott’s Solantic and start looking for reforms that lower costs and improve access to care.”
