Democrats continue to maintain overall advantage, Republican register fewer voters for the 2nd month in a row

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida Democratic Party today released their March voter registration data, showing that once again, Democrats out-registered Republicans, this time by 8-percentage points. In a further sign that voters are fleeing the GOP, Republican trailed Democrats in voter registration for the second consecutive month. Democrats continue to maintain an overall voter registration advantage of 4-percent.

“The Republicans’ Tea Party extremism and their continued assault on women and the middle class is turning off Florida voters,” said Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Scott Arceneaux. “The Democratic message of economic fairness and helping businesses create jobs — coupled with our strong grassroots organizing across the state — set the stage for us to out-register Republicans yet again and maintain our overall registration advantage. Florida Democrats are entering the general election season strong.”

Key takeaways from the voter registration numbers:

• Democrats registered 4,405 more voters than Republicans — beating the GOP by 8-percentage points.
• Democrats also continued to register more new voters — increasing new voter registrants from February by 2-percent.
• Hispanics in March registered as Democrats an astounding 37-percent of the time, and as Republicans only 17-percent of the time. Overall, Democrats have a 9-percent advantage over Republicans in Hispanic registration.
• Overall, the recent statistics continue to reflect that the state is trending more Democratic, as Democrats retain a 4-percent advantage over Republicans.
