Statement on CD-22 Primary Election

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Following the results of tonight’s primary election in which Lois Frankel was elected as the Democratic nominee in Congressional District 22, the Florida Democratic Party released the following statements:

STATEMENT FROM FDP CHAIR ROD SMITH:

“I’d like to congratulate Lois Frankel on her victory tonight — Florida Democrats are looking forward to doing all we can to win this race and elect her to Congress. Lois has a strong record as a champion for middle class families, and she’ll stand up to the Republican Tea Party extremists who are trying to end Medicare as we know it. With Lois Frankel as our candidate, this is a seat Democrats can and will win in November.”

STATEMENT FROM FDP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SCOTT ARCENEAUX:

“Republicans like Adam Hasner and Paul Ryan have shown time and again that they’re not on the side of Florida’s middle class. From voting to end Medicare as we know it to giving tax breaks to billionaires and millionaires, the GOP has prioritized an extreme agenda that does nothing to help businesses create jobs or grow our economy. Hasner voted in lockstep with the Republicans while he was in Tallahassee, and now he wants to bring the same extremist policies to Congress. Florida voters are tired of these broken politics from the Republicans like Hasner, and Democrats are committed to running an aggressive campaign to elect Lois Frankel.”
