FL Dems Statement in Recognition of World Aids Day

TALLAHASSEE, FL — In recognition of World Aids Day, Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith today issued the following statement:

STATEMENT FROM FL DEMS CHAIR ROD SMITH

“Today, we come together to recognize the incredible progress we’ve made in combating the HIV and AIDS epidemic and the countless lives already saved. But we also know we still have more work to do, and our state of Florida has been hit particularly hard hit by this epidemic with over 100,000 people living with HIV/AIDS here alone. That’s why today, Florida Democrats are joining with leaders like Sen. Bill Nelson in urging urging Congress to avoid cutting the life saving programs which have made a substantial and real difference in combating the AIDS epidemic and continuing to support President Obama’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief worldwide. Fighting against this disease is a bipartisan cause — and together, we can end HIV and AIDS once and for all.”
