Florida Democrats Elect Allison Tant to Lead Party

Lake Mary, FL —Members of the Florida Democratic Party today elected Allison Tant to lead the party through the 2014 elections.  Chairwoman Tant replaces outgoing Chairman Rod Smith.

STATEMENT FROM FL DEMS CHAIR ALLISON TANT:

“I am grateful for the chance to lead the Florida Democratic Party forward. I have seen firsthand through my travels that Florida Democrats are energized by the gains of this last election cycle and poised to do what has eluded our party for over a decade: elect a Democratic governor. I look forward to working together with our tremendous grassroots volunteers to defeat Rick Scott and elect Democrats up-and-down the ticket.”

STATEMENT FROM OUTGOING FL DEMS CHAIR ROD SMITH:

“I congratulate Allison on her victory today and am confident I leave this party in good hands. Florida Democrats won key mayoral victories in 2011 and madehistoric gains by running the strongest, largest ground game this state hadever seen in 2012. It has been an honor and privilege to lead the party through such an exciting cycle. I know I’m leaving a stronger organization. It’s time for Democrats to come together and focus on our number one priority: defeating Rick Scott.”
