FL Dems Statement on House Committee Vote on Parent-Trigger Bill

Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Democratic Party today released the following statement in response to the House Education Appropriations Subcommittee passage of the 2013 parent-trigger bill.

STATEMENT FROM FL DEMS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SCOTT ARCENEAUX:

“Today in a party-line vote Republicans ignored the testimony of parents, teachers, and groups representing education professionals and minorities and paved the way for for-profit corporations to take over public schools. After bipartisan rejection last year, the GOP is again attempting to put profits before the education of Florida’s students by ramming through another parent-trigger bill. If Republicans truly were serious about helping students and not corporations they would join Florida’s parents and teachers in opposition to this radical bill.”
