Tallahassee, FL — Today, the Florida Democratic Party announced the hiring of two key fundraising positions. Sarah Smith will be the Party’s Finance Director, and Michael Hoffman will be Deputy Finance Director. “I’m incredibly excited to announce Sarah’s hiring,” said FDP Chair Allison Tant. “Sarah is a veteran fundraiser with a broad range of experience and key connections in Florida that will help us marshall our resources to defeat Rick Scott in 2014. Sarah’s knowledge of this state and broad vision for our Party’s future make her perfect for this role.” “It’s wonderful to be back at the Florida Democratic Party,” said Smith. “The grassroots energy this year to build a strong Democratic Party is unprecedented. I’m excited to get to work building our Party’s resources to defeat Rick Scott next year — and win races up and down the ballot.” A Florida native, Sarah Smith has been raising money for political and non-profit causes in Florida for eight years. For the past two years, she managed fundraising events for the Miami Children’s Museum. In the 2010 election cycle, she directed fundraising efforts in north Florida for Alex Sink’s campaign for governor. Prior to that, she worked in the finance departments of the Florida Democratic Party and Rod Smith’s campaign for governor. Michael Hoffman has raised money for several Democratic campaigns, including Alex Sink’s 2010 campaign for governor and Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in 2011 and 2012. He grew up in Florida and graduated from the University of Florida in 2010. # # # |
