Statement by Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant On George Sheldon's Campaign for Attorney General

Tallahassee, FL — Today, Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant made the following statement on George Sheldon’s announcement of his campaign for attorney general:

“I am pleased that George Sheldon has entered the race for attorney general. For the past three years, Attorney General Pam Bondi has put her political career over the needs of Florida families. It is time to restore integrity to the office of Attorney General. George Sheldon’s lifetime of experience fighting for families at every level of government makes him a strong candidate for attorney general, and Florida voters would restore integrity and honor to the office of attorney general by electing him.”

About George Sheldon

At the age of 32 he was selected by Florida’s press as the most valuable member of the Florida legislature fighting for children and the environment. George Sheldon was Deputy Attorney General for Bob Butterworth where he cracked down on civil rights violations and deceptive trade practices. George formerly served as Secretary of Florida’s Department of Children and Families where he worked to keep the most vulnerable amongst us safe, and even Rick Scott’s transition team referred to the Department as the best-run agency in State government at the time. Most recently, George took his leadership to the federal level and served the past four years as Assistant Secretary for the United States Department of Health and Human Services responsible for Children and Families.
