Mayor Gillum Will Oversee MVP Efforts to Elect Democrats to Local Government 

Following last week’s victory in the Gainesville Mayor’s race, Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant announced today that Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum has been named Chair of the Municipal Victory Project (MVP).  

The MVP is focused on building the Florida Democratic Party’s bench by recruiting and helping elect Democrats to municipal and county governments across Florida. The FDP has already seen success with the program in Cape Coral, Orlando, Gainesville, and Sarasota, where the entire city council is now represented by Democrats. 

“We are thrilled to announce today that Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum will serve as Chair of our Municipal Victory Project as we work to build our bench and expand our grassroots infrastructure,” said FDP Chair Allison Tant. “Mayor Gillum will bring his incredible talent and breadth of experience to the project, and we look forward to building on the program’s successes. As the Republican brand becomes increasingly toxic under Donald Trump, Florida Democrats look forward to holding the GOP accountable at every level of Florida government.”
