FDP Responds After Third Democratic Amendment Banning Assault Weapons Fails

Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Juan Peñalosa released the following statement after the third Democratic amendment to ban assault weapons failed to pass Tuesday:

“This is the third time in two days that Republicans have turned their backs on the #NeverAgain movement. Democrats have brought forth three amendments to include a ban on assault rifles in this Republican “gun legislation”, and Tallahassee Republicans have continued to show their loyalty lies​ with the gun lobby and not with victims and their families​. This legislation does not go far enough to protect our children and our communities from gun violence, and that is because Rick Scott and Republicans are too worried about their next election to enact real gun reform.”
