DeSantis Finance Team Member Is At Center of Latest Trump Lawyer Scandal; Paid $1.6 Million in Hush Money to Playboy Model
DeSantis Should Immediately Remove Broidy from His National Finance Team
The Wall Street Journal reported this afternoon that Elliott Broidy, a member of Ron DeSantis’ national finance team, used Trump lawyer Michael Cohen to pay off a former Playboy Model who he “impregnated.”
According to the Journal, Cohen “negotiated a deal in late 2017 to pay $1.6 million to a former Playboy model who said she was impregnated by” Broidy. The woman decided to end the pregnancy. This afternoon, Broidy announced he would resign as RNC deputy finance chair.
Cohen’s offices were raided earlier this week by the FBI.
“In his effort to be the Trumpiest gubernatorial candidate, Ron DeSantis has aligned himself with some of the country’s shadiest GOP donors. By filling his campaign with some of the most scandal-plagued members of Trumpworld, DeSantis threatens to bring the chaos engulfing Washington to Tallahassee. If he has any regard for good government, DeSantis will immediately remove Broidy from his national finance team,” said FDP spokesperson Kevin Donohoe.
Broidy gave $10,000 to DeSantis in February. Last December, the DeSantis campaign announced Broidy as a member of its national finance team.
Broidy is just the latest member of DeSantis’ national finance team to be at the center of a national scandal. Finance team member Rebekah Mercer partially owns Cambridge Analytica — the firm accused of stealing million of Americans’ Facebook data.
