Florida Democrats Hold Weekend of Activism With Voter Summits, Campaign Office Openings, Canvasses

This weekend, the Florida Democratic Party hosted voter summits around the state, training hundreds of activists in communications, voter tools and technology, phone banking, and canvassing.

In Orlando, FDP hosted their fifth African American Voter Summit with local lawmakers and community leaders. The summits are a part of a partnership with the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida and have been hugely successful in voter outreach, training hundreds of activists to date. Previous African American Voter Summits were held in Jacksonville, Clearwater, Miami, and Ft. Lauderdale.

The Florida Democratic Party held a similar summit for Hispanic voters in Hialeah Gardens on Saturday. Activists heard from statewide and local candidates, including Florida Sen. Jose Javier Rodriguez, Reps. Nicholas Duran and Robert Asencio, CFO Candidate Jeremy Ring, Congressional Candidate Mary Barzee Flores, FL Senate Candidate David Perez, and FL House Candidate Cindy Polo.

“Turnout at our Hispanic Voter Summit in Miami-Dade showed us just how much these elections mean to members of our community,” said Democratic Hispanic Caucus Chair Noemi Morales McGregor. “We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm we saw this weekend. It’s clear that our candidates, and our message is resonating in Hispanic communities and we are going to continue to work hard to earn their vote.”

The weekend also saw the opening of over a dozen new Democratic field offices across the state, with over 200 campaign events planned throughout the state. Beginning on Wednesday, October 3, the Florida Democrats have launched 40 new grassroots offices as we continue to expand our statewide coordinated campaign.
