Florida Democratic Party Chair Rizzo Mourns The Passing Of LGBTQ Rights Activist Terry Fleming

The Florida Democratic Party has been informed of the passing of LGBTQ rights activist Terry Fleming. He was the treasurer and past president of the Stonewall Democrats of Alachua County and a former president of the Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“Terry Fleming was a passionate voice for equality and Democratic values. He was one of the kindest and hardest working members of the party. Terry put his energy into the important work of advancing LGBTQ rights at the local and state level and we’ll miss his voice. His work to ban conversion therapy in Gainesville and Alachua county served as a model across Florida and helped protect LGBTQ from the harmful practice. Everyone at the Florida Democratic Party mourns the loss of our dear friend. Our hearts are with his husband and family.”
