Marco Rubio And Every Florida Republican Voted Against New Funding To Fix Florida’s Bridges

Florida Democrats voted to secure nearly $250 million in funding to help fix over 400 bridges in poor condition across the state, made possible by a new program under the Infrastructure Investment And Jobs Act that Marco Rubio and every other Florida Republican voted against. The funding for bridge repairs will help lead to safer roads and shorter commute times across the state, as well as help create thousands of new good-paying jobs.

“This new program will bring good-paying jobs to our state and help save Floridians money. It’s shameful that Marco Rubio refused to put his self-serving political agenda aside and support this plan to invest in our infrastructure. At a time when our leaders should be focused on passing legislation to lower the cost of living for Floridians, Rubio is too weak to step up,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.

In addition to voting against the new funding to help fix Florida’s bridges, Marco Rubio and Florida Republicans opposed programs to help extend broadband and clean water to Florida families, protect vital infrastructure from flooding and the effects of climate change, and investments in ports and airports that will help bring down the cost of goods for everyday Floridians.
