Will Marco Rubio Stand With Floridians Or Cave To His Party Leaders On Prescription Drug Prices?

After Republican Senators recently admitted that Republicans would oppose efforts to lower prescription drug costs and try to repeal the Affordable Care Act if they took control of the Senate, a bipartisan group is preparing legislation to lower prescription drug prices and cap monthly insulin costs. Marco Rubio now has a clear choice: stand with Floridians by voting to lower health care costs, or cowardly fall in line with his party leaders.

“Marco Rubio has the chance to support lowering prescription drug costs for those in need, but Floridians shouldn’t be surprised if he’s once again too weak to do the right thing for them. Rubio has spent years opposing efforts to make health care more affordable, and voted for legislation that would raise health care costs and kick Floridians off their insurance,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Grant Fox.

Last year Rubio vowed to oppose legislation that would reform prescription drug prices and lower the cost of insulin. He’s spent his entire career in the Senate working to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which has helped over 2.7 million Floridians afford insurance and protected 3.5 million with pre-existing conditions from losing coverage.
