Following reports that the City of Lake Worth’s commission voted unanimously to make the city a sanctuary for LGBTQ+ Floridians, Chair Nikki Fried shared the following statement:
“Commissioners in Lake Worth voted unanimously last night to declare that everyone in their city should feel safe being their authentic selves. This is a huge step in making Florida safe again for all communities – especially for our LGBTQ+ friends who have had to live in fear under Governor DeSantis’ attacks.” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried.
“I commend the city and all the advocates, families, and individuals who worked tirelessly to help pass this resolution and bring their community together at such a crucial time. Our local elected officials are on the front lines in the fight to keep our communities safe, and commissioners in Lake Worth made it clear that if Republicans in Tallahassee won’t protect our communities – they will.”
