FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIR NIKKI FRIED CALLS ON VOTERS TO ELECT ANOTHER DEMOCRAT IN MIAMI BEACH

Tomorrow, voters will go to the polls for a runoff election to elect a new mayor in Miami Beach.

Michael Góngora is the Florida Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate in the race for Miami Beach mayor, as Democratic Mayor Dan Gelber completes his third and final term.

“There is only one choice in the race for Miami Beach Mayor. Michael Góngora is the only candidate we trust to lead with Democratic ideals and values,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Miami Beach has always been a bustling city and beacon of inclusion for anyone who visits or calls this special place home. Tomorrow, we are counting on voters to elect another Democrat to the mayor’s office to ensure Miami Beach continues to stand for our values.”

If elected, Góngora would be the first openly gay mayor of Miami Beach. Góngora has been a major advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, including advocating for the creation of the city’s Human Rights Commission.

Góngora is an attorney, community activist, and a former elected official who served three terms on the Miami Beach City Commission. A resident of Miami Beach for over 30 years, Gongora is a longtime supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, environmental initiatives, and reproductive freedom

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A full list of polling locations are available HERE.
