FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY STATEMENT ON APPEALS COURT RULING

FDP Chair Nikki Fried says ‘conservative court told Ron he was wrong’

Today, the 11th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Ron DeSantis’s suspension of former Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren violated the First Amendment and ordered a new hearing in federal court. In response, the Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement:

“One of the most conservative courts in the country told Ron he was wrong,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried.“ Today, the appeals court ruled that Ron’s politically motivated suspension of State Attorney Andrew Warren is a violation of the First Amendment. This is a huge loss for Ron and a major win for democracy.

“The 59-page ruling is a slap in the face to Ron and a roadmap for reinstating State Attorney Warren.

“We welcome today’s ruling and remain hopeful that the District Court hearing will explore legal remedies to reinstate State Attorney Warren so he can complete the term he was elected to serve.”
