FLORIDA DEMOCRATS RECOGNIZE 28TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SHOOTDOWN OF BROTHERS TO THE RESCUE AIRCRAFT

Today marks 28 years since the shootdown of two Brothers to the Rescue aircraft. Three American pilots, Armando Alejandre Jr., Carlos Costa, Mario de la Peña, and a resident of Cuban origin, Pablo Morales, were murdered while they were in international waters in an operation to rescue Cuban immigrants. In honor of the victims and their families, the Florida Democratic Party released the following statement:

“Today we honor the memory of the four heroes who were murdered by the Castro dictatorship,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Our prayers are with their families who live with the pain of knowing they were callously murdered and that those responsible for this crime have not faced the full weight of the law.”

“Today and every day, we condemn the criminal actions of the Havana regime and reiterate our commitment to freedom and democracy for the Cuban people. Nearly three decades later, we demand justice be served and promise to never forget.”
