Donald Trump is Responsible for Extreme Bans and Fall of Roe v Wade

Today, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried was joined by Jasmine Burney-Clark, Florida State Director for the Biden-Harris Campaign, and State Representative Anna V. Eskamani to respond to Donald Trump’s comments on Monday supporting extreme abortion bans across the country, including Florida’s – which bans abortions before most women know they’re pregnant, with virtually no exceptions.

In the same video on Monday, Donald Trump also bragged about being “proudly the person responsible” for overturning Roe v. Wade.

In response, the Florida Democratic Party held a press call this morning to hold Donald Trump responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade and clearing the way for Florida’s abortion ban.

Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried

“Since Donald Trump overturned Roe v. Wade, voters across the country have made it overwhelmingly clear that they want politicians to stay out of this decision. Bans on abortion are unpopular and Donald Trump knows it.”

Jasmine Burney-Clark, Florida State Director for the Biden-Harris Campaign”

“Because of Trump, more than 1 in 3 women of reproductive age now live under extreme and dangerous bans – especially in the southeast, where women will no longer have anywhere to go for abortion care now that Florida’s extreme ban is going into effect.”

Florida State Representative Anna V. Eskamani (HD-42)

“Trump’s comments yesterday are an endorsement of the nightmare we’re seeing play out not just here in Florida, but also in the 20 other states with extreme abortion bans in effect. These examples include doctors having to consult with lawyers before advising what health care options their patients can access or pregnant patients having to wait until they’re just close enough to death before being able to get life-saving care.”
