Florida Dems Chair Nikki Fried calls on candidates impacted by Trump’s first 100 days to run for office
Today marks the 100th day of Donald Trump’s second term. In response, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:
“Trump’s first 100 days have hit Floridians hard,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “In just over three months, we’ve seen the consequences of his policies pile up — sky high tariffs hurting small business owners and driving up the cost of groceries; attacks on Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and education; veterans losing their jobs due to DOGE cuts. People are angry, and the numbers show it — the majority of Americans believe Trump is to blame for the state of the economy.
“Democrats around the country are standing up and fighting back, and I’m calling on Floridians to do the same. We need Floridians with powerful stories to put their names on the ballot. Today, we’re launching a candidate recruitment push calling on people who may have been impacted by Trump’s actions in the first 100 days to step up and lead.
“With our historic overperformance in recent special elections and the growing backlash to Trump’s unpopular agenda, we’ve shown that when Democrats stand up for our values — fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare, defending our veterans, and standing up for working families — we can win.
“If you’ve ever thought about running for office, now is the time. Together, we can stop Trump in his tracks, end the chaos and build a better future for Florida and our nation.”
