Central Florida – In response to today’s Supreme Court ruling allowing the Trump Administration to revoke temporary legal status from half a million migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, FDP Vice Chair Maria Revelles has issued the following statement:
“I am heartbroken and outraged by a ruling that threatens the lives of more than 500,000 of our legal immigrant siblings, many of whom call Florida home. This is not just a court decision — it is a moral failure.
America was built by immigrants. Florida’s strength comes from the resilience, culture, and labor of communities who have fled violence, disaster, and oppression in search of safety and hope. Deporting our Haitian, Venezuelan, Cuban, and Nicaraguan neighbors — mothers, students, and workers who were here legally seeking a better life — is not only inhumane, it’s a betrayal of our values.
This is not the Florida we want. This is not the American promise that we believe in.”
