DeSantis Administration Shutters Online Voter Registration Ahead of National Voter Registration Day

As Florida Democrats gear up for the largest voter registration week of action to date, Governor Ron DeSantis administration shutters Online Voter Registration for “maintenance.”

In advance of National Voter Registration Day, Florida Democrats have launched a statewide online ad campaign, scheduled over 1000 volunteer shifts and have committed more than $3 million to registering 200,000 voters before the launch of the 2020 general election.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, released the following statement in response:

“Governor Ron DeSantis knows that the Florida Democratic Party strategy of registering and turning out voters will result in victory in 2020. Shuttering the online voter registration site for ‘maintenance’ as we kick off our largest voter registration week is the latest act of voter suppression from a Governor who has doubled down on voter suppression tactics during his short tenure. Florida Democrats demand the site be put back online immediately.”
