Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo Calls Out Hate and Anti-Semitism

Posted

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the Holocaust. Anti-semitic terrorist acts are on the rise once again and hate crimes against Jews have shocked the country.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, issued the following statement in somber remembrance of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and as a call to action to all Floridians:

“Seventy-five years after the liberation of Auschwitz, we see anti-Semitism rising, we see politicians across the world scapegoating outsiders as the cause of their country’s problems, and we see attacks directed at those who are different.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day marks one of the darkest chapters of the 20th century: When Nazi Germany thought they could purge their society of those deemed different.

Today we are mourning the murder of 6 million Jews, millions of Russian and Polish citizens, and hundreds of thousands of Romani, people with disabilities, as well as members of the LGBTQ community.

Our fight against hate must encompass all three evils: anti-Semitism, fascism, and white supremacy. We urge all Florida Democrats and all Floridians to stand up against these movements at all costs for the sake of a just and humane society. We each must do our part.”
