On July 14, Donald Trump tweeted that a group of Democratic congresswomen should go back to the “crime infested places from which they came” and today claimed “AOC and this crowd are a bunch of Communists.”

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, blasted Trump for his racist attacks and demagoguery of Democratic members of Congress:

“Donald Trump’s attacks on Democratic members of Congress are shameful cries for attention. Trump might think such racist attacks and attempts to demonize Democratic members of Congress will help him win in 2020, but Florida doesn’t want his bigotry. Where is our governor, Ron DeSantis, or our senators, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, or our Republican members of Congress during all this? Do they agree with this racism and ignorance? The Florida GOP has a duty to come out and condemn Trump’s bigotry and lies. Their silence is deafening.”
