Florida Democrats Turn Anger into Action: Over 200 Events Planned this Weekend

Posted

The Florida Democratic Party's statewide-Coordinated Campaign is kicking into high-gear this weekend, with over 200 GOTV events planned. The coordinated campaign, which kicked off in May - the earliest ever in a midterm election, just trained an additional 200 field organizers this week who are deployed in every corner of Florida.

"The Florida Democratic Party began to rebuild party infrastructure months ago with investments in boots on the ground, technology and candidate recruitment -- and what we began months ago has intensified to a level of progressive engagement we've never seen in a midterm election," said FDP Chair Terrie Rizzo. "Voters know what's on the ballot this year - healthcare, education, the environment, gun violence, our children's future - and they are ready to do the hard work it will take to win in November."

Last week, the FDP announced it has contacted 8 million voters in the 2018 midterm cycle, a number reached through boots on the ground, volunteer activism and new technology the Party has employed through its county parties, clubs and caucuses.

"Florida Democrats recruited an historic number of qualified candidates to run for school board to Senate and we are seeing an enthusiasm and energy around our candidates that will drive voters to the polls. Our candidates are giving people something to vote for, not against - and we expect Democrats to turn out in record numbers on November 6th," said Terrie Rizzo.

On Saturday, Mayor Andrew Gillum will join FDP Chair Terrie Rizzo at an office re-opening in Palm Beach. For a list of all events being held, visit the FDP website.
