On National Voter Registration Day, Helpful Tips from FDP Voter Protection Team

On National Voter Registration Day, the Florida Democrats voter protection team are reminding Floridians of how and what they need in order to register to vote.

Today, the Florida Democratic Party is planning to register over 1,000 voters in a day. As part of the day's efforts, the Florida Democratic Party Voter Protection Department offers helpful tips for registering to vote:

  • Someone can register to vote online or by using a paper voter registration form in English or Spanish.
  • The paper voter registration form is a great way for someone to make sure one's legal name, legal residence address, and signature are up-to-date.
  • In order to vote, a person must register at least 29 days before the first election in which they want to vote.
  • A person can register to vote even if s/he does not have a Florida Driver License, Florida ID card or Social Security number.
  • If a person does not select a political party at the time of voter registration, they will be registered "No Party Affiliation" and will not be able to vote in Florida's Democratic Presidential Primary.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, stated: "Our democracy is strengthened when more people have access to the polls. That is why it is important to make sure people know their voting rights and how the process works to ensure greater voter participation."
