Question of the Day for Adam Putnam: Do You Support Donald Trump's Budget?

Adam Putnam wants to be governor but continues his silence on the issues that matter most to Florida families.

Donald Trump broke his campaign promises to American workers and released a budget that takes trillions from America's working class to produce tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%. Meanwhile, Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam has praised Trump's policies but remains silent on Trump's disastrous and dangerous budget.

"Adam Putnam openly praises Donald Trump to score political points but refuses to stand up for Florida families. Trump's budget would wreak havoc on our state's economy by cutting $2.6 billion from the Environmental Protection Agency, taking $15 billion from veterans and gutting the food assistance programs that 3.1 million Floridians depend on," said FDP spokesperson Johanna Cervone. "Voters need to know: does Adam Putnam support Trump's budget which cuts services for millions of working families while handing massive tax cuts to the rich?"

Donald Trump’s new budget for FY2018 may be the greatest heist in American history. Some of its worst offenses include:

  • $2.6 billion in cuts to the EPA that will devastate Florida's natural resources.
  • $15 billion cut from VA programs—Florida has the third largest population of veterans in the entire country.
  • $190 billion cut to SNAP (supplemental nutritional assistance program). 3.1 million Floridians rely on food assistance programs.
  • $1.85 trillion in combined cuts to the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid. Medicaid is a lifeline for over 4 million Floridians—seniors, children and Americans with disabilities will be the hardest hit by these cuts.
  • Cuts to the NIH at a time when we are working towards cures for Alzheimer’s and cancer.
