Statement on CD-9 Primary Election
TALLAHASSEE, FL — Following the results of tonight's primary election in which Alan Grayson was elected as the Democratic nominee in Congressional District 9, the Florida Democratic Party released the following statement:
STATEMENT FROM FDP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SCOTT ARCENEAUX:
"Republicans like Todd Long and Paul Ryan have shown time and again that they're not on the side of Florida's middle class families. From voting to end Medicare as we know it to giving tax breaks to billionaires and millionaires, the GOP has prioritized an extreme agenda that does nothing to help businesses create jobs or grow our economy — and Long would be part of this problem in Washington. Florida voters are tired of these broken politics from the Republicans like Long, and Democrats are committed to running an aggressive campaign to elect Alan Grayson."
- Democrats hold a strong voter registration advantage in this district — 43-percent to the Republican's 28-percent.
- Obama would have received over 60-percent of the vote in this district, and Sink would have carried this district as well.
