Today, Florida House Republicans voted against Florida’s Hispanic community by weakening the bill to provide in-state tuition for young Dreamers. Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant made the following statement:
“Today, we saw Florida Republicans show their true colors. The GOP’s vote will make it harder for countless Dreamers to earn an education and get into the middle class. Florida Republicans just don’t get it: it’s not possible for many Dreamers to spend four consecutive years in high school. The GOP had the option to level the playing field for all of Florida’s kids — and they chose not to. Florida’s Dreamers deserve action, not pathetic political pandering.”
