Congressman Joe Garcia was born and raised in South Florida and was elected to the United States House of Representatives on November 6, 2012. He represents Florida's 26th District, which spans from West Miami-Dade to Key West, and serves on the United States House Committee on the Judiciary.
Prior to being elected to Congress, Congressman Joe Garcia served as the Director of the Office of Minority Economic Impact for the United States Department of Energy. In addition, Congressman Garcia was previously Chairman of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party and a prior Executive Director of the Cuban American National Foundation.
Congressman Joe Garcia attended high school in South Florida at Belen Jesuit, as well as Miami Dade Community College and the University of Miami where he completed he completed his undergraduate studies and later graduated from its law school. He has one daughter, Gabriela.
