Florida Democratic Party Statement On Presidential Primary Date: Republicans Wasting Money On Needless Commission Rather Than Simply Following Rules

Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Scott Arceneaux released the following statement on the Republicans’ latest move on the Presidential Primary date:

“In a time of fiscal crisis, Senate President Mike Haridopolos and House Speaker Dean Cannon are wasting tax money on something that shouldn’t be an issue.

“Last year, the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee agreed on the rules that govern the Presidential Primary process for the first time ever. 

“Rather than creating a new bureaucracy for the Republicans to punt this issue to, wasting money on a phony commission, and leaving Florida voters in limbo as to the date of the Presidential Primary, the Republican Legislature should pass the legislation now pending and set the primary date for March 6th.”
