Florida Democratic Party Denounces ‘Voter Suppression’ Bill Being Pushed By Republicans

Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Scott Arceneaux released the following statement reacting to the ‘Voter Suppression’ bill, HB 1355, Republican politicians are ramming through the Legislature:

“After pushing an extreme agenda that does real harm to the quality of life for all Floridians, now Rick Scott’s Republican enablers in the Legislature are attacking the fundamental voting rights of all Floridians.

“Over the last several years, Floridians have gone to the polls to vote in record numbers knowing that the Sunshine State had finally moved past the chaos of the 2000 election.

“Since the 2010 and 2008 elections showed Floridians that the system isn’t broken, clearly the only thing the Republicans are doing with this bill is trying to game the system to help Republicans.

“The Republicans’ motives are as clear as they are shameless.

“If passed, this legislation would literally disenfranchise Floridians, limit voters’ access to the polls, and basically make it a criminal act to register someone to votein the state of Florida.”
