FLA DEMS Releases Statements from Sen. Braynon and Rep. Randolph on GOP’s Willingness to Raise Taxes on the Middle Class

Tallahassee, FL – Today, the Florida Democratic Party released the following statements from Senator Oscar Braynon (D-33) and Representative Scott Randolph (D-36) on the GOP’s willingness to raise taxes on the middle class.

Statement from Senator Oscar Braynon:
“Last year, President Obama lowered the payroll tax so working Americans can keepmore of what they earn and help our economy grow. The Republicans desire toraise the payroll tax is a reminder of what they are really fighting for: tax exemptions for the wealthiest 2-percent of the country. If you’re one of the 9 million Floridians who pay a payroll tax on most of what you earn, these self-proclaimed anti-tax Republicans want to raise your taxes.”

Statement from Representative Scott Randolph:
“The Republicans refusal to maintain the middle-class payroll tax cuts would result in a $5.7 billion tax increase on 9 million Floridians.  While they crow about signing pledges not to raise taxes, I guess that pledge is only meant for millionaires and corporations.  This hypocrisy is nothing new, and thecurrent Republican Presidential candidates offer much of the same – in their three debates not one of them has mentioned the words ‘middle-class.’”
