Statement from FLA DEMS on Federal Judge Ruling to Uphold Fair Districts Amendment

Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Democratic Party today issued the following statement in response to a federal judge’s ruling to uphold the Fair Districts amendment.

Statement from Florida Democratic Chairman Rod Smith:

“I am pleased with today’s federal court decision. Frankly, I never had any doubts that we would prevail on this issue because the legislative power of any state comes from the people – and the people have spoken loudly on the subject of Fair Districts. I am hopeful that we can stop the litigation and proceed immediately to produce maps that reflect the will of Floridians. It’s time for voters to choose their leaders and stop politicians from choosing their voters.”
