State Rep. Darren Soto on Tonight’s Republican Presidential Debate

Representative Darren Soto (D-Orlando) issued the following statement:

“Unfortunately, what Floridians saw tonight as they watched the Republican debate was candidates pandering to the Tea Party fringe as they continued their calls to end Medicare and erode Social Security.

“The Republicans continued to support an extreme budget plan that would eliminate 9.5 million jobs across America and ultimately weaken middle class security.

“While the President is advocating for tax cuts for middle class families and investments that would create jobs for Florida residents and folks across the country right now, the Republican candidatescontinue to support tax cuts for the wealthiest, tax breaks for large corporations, while allowing special interests to write their own rules – the very same policies that led to the recession.

“Tonight, Floridians saw just how wrong the Republican candidates’ policies are for America.”
