FLA Dems Call on GOP Senate Candidates to Condemn Mitt Romney’s ‘Do Nothing’ Foreclosure Comments

Tallahassee, FL – Today, Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Scott Arceneaux released the following statement following Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s remarks regarding the foreclosure crisis, and called on GOP Senate candidates to condemn his “do nothing” comments.  Florida has the second highest foreclosure rate in the nation.

“In a state with the second highest foreclosure rate in the nation, it’s unconscionable Mitt Romney would argue a ‘do nothing’ mentality while thousands of Floridians struggle to remain in their homes. We call on Republican Senate candidates George LeMieux, Adam Hasner and Mike McCalister to condemn Romney’s comments which demonstrate the GOP are more concerned about siding with big Wall Street banks over middle-class families.”

BACKGROUND

Romney said: “Don’t try and stop the foreclosure process, let it run its course and hit the bottom.”
