Tallahassee, FL – Today, Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith issued the following statement in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

“At a time when political rhetoric and discourse has become incredibly divisive, we are reminded of a man who unified people of all political stripes and backgrounds toward a common goal: equality. Today, we pay homage to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the great strides he made for mankind. A man who literally gave his life to love and justice.

“We also look to expand on the lessons and the words he left behind. Let us mark his memory by recalling these. And let us remember that bringing people together to solve problems is the only way we can move our nation forward.”
