The Sound of Rubio's Silence on Rush is "Deafening"

Per the outlet, “the silence from Rubio’s office has been deafening” and is “just the latest example of Republicans being afraid to take Limbaugh on for his over-the-top rhetoric.”

CBSMiami: Limbaugh Continues Losing Advertisers

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Over the weekend, seven advertisers decided that controversial conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh’s latest comments calling a student a “slut,” a “prostitute,” and asking her to produce a sex tape were too much and dropped their sponsorship of his show.

But, one major up-and-coming Republican has been noticeably quiet on the Limbaugh comments. CBSMiami reached out to Republican Senator Marco Rubio throughout the day Friday for his thoughts on Rush’s comments. The silence from Rubio’s office has been deafening.

It’s just the latest example of Republicans being afraid to take Limbaugh on for his over-the-top rhetoric.

Limbaugh claimed that he was trying to illustrate a point that women who want birth control free of charge were essentially wanting to be paid to have sex.

Limbaugh directed his anger towards Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown student who testified on the need for birth control coverage and used a story of a fellow student who couldn’t get birth control coverage and then had to have an ovary removed, even though the birth control would have helped stopped the growths on the ovary.

Limbaugh has since apologized, but that hasn’t stopped the criticism from mainstream Republicans who have grown tired of Limbaugh’s bombastic attitudes and complete control over many wings of the Republican Party.

Senator John McCain said Limbaugh’s statements were unacceptable and “should be condemned” by all politicians. Legendary conservative George Will attacked Speaker of the House John Boehner’s response saying the Speaker calling Limbaugh’s comments “inappropriate” were weak by saying, “using a salad fork for your entrée, that’s inappropriate.”

Will also took aim at the presidential candidates for failing to take on Limbaugh saying, “They want to bomb Iran, but they’re afraid of Rush Limbaugh.”
