FL Dems Launch New Ad: "Stand"

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida Democratic Party today released a new television ad, “Stand,” highlighting Bob Brooks’ extremist values which are out of touch with the Orlando community and Linda Stewart’s record of putting partisanship aside to do what’s right for middle class families. The ad will begin airing on Orlando TV stations starting today. See below for proof and transcript.

“I worked with Republicans and Democrats to keep our finances strong and provide quality services to residents — and that’s a record I’m proud to stand on,” said Linda Stewart. “The people of Orlando deserve a representative who shares our values, and who they can trust to put middle class families first — not push an extreme agenda that’s out of touch with our community. I know how to put partisanship aside to get things done, and I’ll bring this same commitment to common sense solutions back to Tallahassee.”

“In 1995 when Walt Disney began offering health insurance to domestic partners of gay employees, Brooks was one of 14 lawmakers who signed a letter calling the move an ‘endorsement of a lifestyle that is unhealthy, unnatural and unworthy of special treatment.’

Brooks also told the Orlando Sentinel and other media at the time that Disney’s decision would lead to higher health-care costs for the company and taxpayers, and ‘the policy will increase the spread of AIDS.’”

The Miami Herald described Bob Brooks as a “hard-right religious” conservative who is “especially outspoken against abortion rights.”

As Commissioner, Linda Stewart put partisanship aside to get things done. As our State Rep, she’ll do the same, investing in our schools and putting middle class families first.
