Dems Beat GOP for Seventh Consecutive Month

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida Democratic Party today released state August voter registration data showing that, for the seventh consecutive month, Democrats out-registered Republicans — again by nearly 10-points. Over the past seven months, Democrats have steadily increased monthly gains over the GOP from a 3-point advantage in February to roughly 10-points in April, May, June, July and August.     

In a trend that has continued into the fall, GOP extremism is causing crucial voting blocs to flee the party as, significantly more women and Hispanics continue to register as Democrats than as Republicans. Florida Democrats continue to maintain an overall registration advantage of 4-percent.  

“Democrats have consistently out registered Republicans in Florida for seven consecutive months and that’s a trend that should make Republicans very nervous heading into the fall,” said Scott Arceneaux, Executive Director of the Florida Democratic Party. “Further troubling for the GOP are the demographic breakdowns which show solid registration advantages among growing important groups like women and Hispanics. With almost 50 days to go and over 88 offices, Democrats are committed to building the strongest, largest ground game this state has ever seen — and delivering Florida’s prized 29 electoral votes for President Obama.”

BY THE NUMBERS:

• August is the seventh consecutive month that Democrats have out-registered Republicans. 
• Democrats registered 7,237 more voters than Republicans in August — beating the GOP by nearly 10-percentage points. 
• In August, Democrats had a 27-percent registration advantage with Hispanics. Overall, Democrats are beating Republicans in Hispanic registration by 10-points. 
• In August, Democrats had a 13-percent registration advantage with women. Overall, Democrats are beating Republicans in women registration by 10-points. 
• Overall, the recent statistics continue to reflect that the state is trending more Democratic, as Democrats retain a 4-percent advantage over Republicans.
