In contrast to Republicans Gov. Scott & Sen. Rubio, Obama received majority of votes cast
TALLAHASSEE, FL — Following the official reporting of election results in Florida’s Presidential race showing that President Obama has won the state’s 29 electoral votes and that a majority of Floridians voted for President Barack Obama, the Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement:
STATEMENT FROM FL DEMS CHAIR ROD SMITH:
“The Florida Democratic Party once again congratulates President Barack Obama on officially winning Florida’s 29 electoral votes, and for winning our state with a majority of the votes cast. This victory stands in contrast to both Gov. Rick Scott and Sen. Marco Rubio’s failures to secure a majority of votes in their respective elections, and shows that President Obama and Florida Democrats’ message of economic opportunity, helping businesses create jobs and investing in our public schools is in touch with the values of Florida’s citizens. Floridians have sent a clear message that they have rejected the Tea Party extremism epitomized by the broken politics of Tallahassee, the Republican controlled Legislature, and Governor Rick Scott.”
