FL Dems Statement on Senate's Passage of Elections "Reform"

Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Democratic Party today released the following statement in response to the Senate’s passage of elections reform.

STATEMENT FROM FL DEMS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SCOTT ARCENEAUX:

“Since the beginning of the legislative session, Democrats have maintained that seven commonsense reform measures, including 14 mandatory days of Early Voting, are crucial to making certain the 2012 elections debacle never happens again. Today, Republicans showed their true colors with a bill that barely scratches the surface of fixing one of the most blatant attacks on Floridian’s right to vote. Republicans don’t want real elections reform, they don’t want to own up to their mistakes — they just want to cross this off their list and go home. If the GOP were truly serious they would have repealed HB 1355. This was among the most important items of the session and the Republicans have once again failed to deliver for the people Florida.”
