FL Dems Statement on House's Failure to Pass Health Care for Working Families

Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Democratic Party today released the following statement in response to the House’s rejection of bipartisan consensus on full Medicaid expansion that would provide health coverage for Florida’s working families.

STATEMENT FROM FL DEMS CHAIR ALLISON TANT:

“Today, the House passed an insufficient and inexcusable version of Medicaid expansion that still leaves nearly a million without access to affordable health care and costs the state $2 billion dollars while rejecting $51 billion in federal funds. In doing so, House Republicans, led by Will Weatherford, have turned a deaf ear to the will of the voters, bipartisan efforts in the Florida Senate, hospitals, health care experts, business groups, and their own Governor. The House GOP is tone deaf and they have put political posturing before the health and well being of hard working families. Their inaction is unconscionable.”
