Touting an Economy that Is Not Gaining Jobs

Tallahassee, FL – Today’s unemployment numbers for Florida show that the unemployment rate nudged down minimally — by one tenth of one percent, as Florida’s workforce shrank. Meanwhile, the state actually lost 4,700 jobs over the last month.

Rick Scott was quick to tout his constant refrain of “it’s working.” As most Floridians know, however, it’s not.

“No matter how the Governor and his GOP allies try to spin this, the reality is that Florida’s economy is stuck in neutral thanks to Rick Scott,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant. “This desperate governor has shown he will say and do anything to keep his job. But on the ground in our communities, Floridians know that this governor’s failed policies are only serving to hold Florida back.”
